The Authority contributed funds towards the County’s efforts to open a new 288-acre urban park on the Martial Cottle Family Ranch. The Cottle family farmed the land for 150 years and the park reflects this agricultural history through providing land for farmers and educational activities. The park also features a trail system and several group picnic areas.

The Authority helped fund the Children's Discovery Museum's new "Bill's Backyard" project, which is a 27,500 square foot outdoor nature education center adjacent to the existing facility. This innovative space will inspire children and their families to spend time outside, exploring the wonders and joys of building, exploring, climbing, rolling, digging, and getting dirty.

Guadalupe River Park Conservancy Environmental Education

The project supports use of the Guadalupe River Park as an outdoor lab to help familiarize children with the outdoors, instill a sense of environmental stewardship, and to teach hands‐on, standards‐based science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) lessons, with a special emphasis on serving students from Title One schools.
